This web page is dedicated to the new CHICS X. In the longer term this package will provide all the functionality of the existing CHICS system, along with many extra features to make use of new computer web based technologies.
We have the ledger in operation with a small organisation this year, and ready for wider distribution soon. At this stage we are not anticipating upgrade charges unless major modifications are wanted to users' data at the same time.
So what have we? We have a vast complex of little codelettes rushing about ready to do your bidding and configure the system the way you want it, be you a 6 bed hostel or a 20,000 unit behemoth.
New features which we are building into the system:
- Tenants, Leaseholders, Garages and all formers etc. all in one file for immediate access and cross referencing.
- Optional transaction editing directly on account screen.
- Extensive filters available on the account screen.
- Batch Entries.
- Customizable viewing/editing Permissions.
- Custom Report Designer.
- NROSH.
- More features being added by the minute.
The interface has been designed to give consistent presentation of different accounts you may wish to use, a bit more like conventional accounts packages than the old CHICS. Also you will be able to configure the screen to best suit your own areas of operation.
Below there are a couple of screenshots, and soon we hope to have a little 'Flash' demo from Carlos. But the main function of this page is to allow you at home to indulge yourselves a little, and download your own test system. As installed the system will be a demonstration using our own test data. If you wish to import your own 'live' data to give yourself a better idea of how the system will work in practice please contact us.

Initial Requirements
- Link to .DotNet Framework - Dotnet framework for Windows 98, ME, 2000, and XP, users (Vista users should not need to download Dotnet.) First follow the link above to install the .Net framework
- Report Viewer You have a choice here of the Full Version, or if you already have Report Viewer installed, you can Upgrade.
Then
- Optionally you can download some test data – You can save this wherever, but you will need to know where for step 2 in the Launch section below.
- Download the CHICSXTrial.zip file – I suggest you save it to the desktop.
- Extract the ZIP and double-click the .exe and it will start the installation.An Uninstall option is also created.

To Launch
- Hit the chicken to run the new system.
- You will be asked for a data file to connect to – Choose a folder : this may well be the folder you put the test data in, OR, if not, then a smaller sample file will be created in there when you run CHICS X.
- There is a limited license for this test data which enables you to use CHICS X, but not save your data.
- If you would like a full trial then email Colin or Mark for a license. A small fee is payable for non-CHICS Users for a trial-which will go towards your first year if you take up the system. Current CHICS Users - please contact us for help in converting your data.
